Transcriber's Notes:

The original lister numbered the passengers. He also abbreviated the occupations,
but was inconsistent in these abbreviations. He used Ser^t, Srvt, Sev^t as
abbreviations for Servant and Lab^r, Lab as abbreviations for Laborer. The
transcriber has chosen to write these occupations in full.

An asterisk (*) is used to refer to an item in the transcriber's notes, which
further explains the entry.

A question mark (?) is used for letter/letters that cannot be read because of the
quality of the document. Where possible a suggestion is given in the Transcriber's
Notes of what the letter/letters may be.

A circumflex (^) is used to indicate missing letters in a name or word. The original
lister showed this by writing the final letter smaller and raising it above the line.

There were 63 deaths on board, but no where does the original lister give us a cause
of the deaths. It was most likely Cholera. See the New York Times Archived article
from November 1853.

 12 Atkin, Askin.
 16 No age listed.
22-27 The "y" in the name above comes down and obscures the missing letter/letters.
The name could be Baad or Baird.
28 The "Died on the voyage" is very lightly written - perhaps it was mistakenly
written in the incorrect row and then the lister tried to erase it?
52 The occupation column has an "M" in it; he mistakenly listed the sex of the
     passenger.
63 This passenger is listed as a female, but also as a Miner. The given name is
would indicate a male - probably Benjamin.
 69 Occupation may be: Dresser.
 70 Scholes, Schales.
84 There is a checkmark after this passenger's name. At times these were used to
indicate a passenger who was ill.
98 This passenger appears to be crossed off. There is no age listed, nor is there
a sex or occupation. It may be that the person never made the voyage, or that
the lister made an error in starting listing this passenger.
114-116 It is difficult to believe that these children were laborers, but they are
     listed as that.
127 There is a checkmark next to this boy's name. It may be that he was ill on the
     voyage.
150 McRee or McKee.
153-155 McCatchar, McCatchan, McCatchun, McCatchur.
156 McGowan, McGowar.
163 This first letter could be an "S" or "L". Lealey, Sealey, or even possibly Leahy.
168 There is a checkmark next to this passenger's name. At times these marks were
used to denote a passsenger who was ill. Indeed, this passenger did die.
184 There is no ditto to the name above, but it is assumed that this passenger has
the same surname as the one above. Is the given name Anastasia?
196 and 197 Doodey, Roodey.
211 There is a checkmark next to this passenger's name. It could be that he was ill
     during the voyage.
245 and 246 Joseph is listed as a female, with no occupation and the following name
is listed as a female, laborer. It is likely that the lister became confused here
and mistakenly listed the woman as a laborer.
253 There is a checkmark after this passenger's name, so she may have been ill on the
     voyage.
259 Ravanagh, Kavanagh.
