The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to quality of the original document. ^ The use of a ^ indicates that the letter/letters following are superscripted. The transcription preserves the original spelling. Passenger numbers have been added to aid with referencing. All ditto marks on the original manifest have been replaced with the actual words indicated. The manifest scribe used a Germanic letter resembling 'fs'; to aid in reading, these have been transcribed to 'ss'. * The manifest scribe did not identify the country of citizenship. 6 Research indicates that this passenger served as Governor of the Bahamas from 1857-1864. His name is spelled variously as Charles John Bayley.
