Steam Ship Karnak
I, Brownless Master of the Steam Ship "Karnak" do solemnly, sincerely and truly (omitted) that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by Me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said "Karnak" at Havana and Nassau N.P.* from which port said "Karnak" has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

List or Manifest OF ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Steam Ship "Karnak" whereof Alfred Brownless Esq^e is Master, from Havana & Nassau, N.P. burthen 793 tons.
Columns represent: Name, Age, Sex, Occupation, The country to which they severally belong, The country to which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on the Voyage, and Part of the Vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. The last column for Space Occupied was retitled by hand to "whether Citizen or aliens"; all passengers were identified as "citizen" and this column has been omitted from the transcription.

The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to quality of the original document. ^ The use of a ^ indicates that the letter/letters following are superscripted. The transcription preserves the original spelling. Passenger numbers have been added by the transcriber to aid with referencing. All ditto marks on the original manifest have been replaced with the actual words indicated. The manifest scribe used a Germanic letter resembling 'fs'; to aid in reading, these have been transcribed to 'ss'. * Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas 12 Surname could be Therne or Thesne.
