Transcriber's Notes:
The column, "Date and Cause of Death" was eliminated from this transcription as there were no
deaths on this passage.
The "Location of compartment or space occupied" column was abbreviated by the transcriber:
No 1 Compartment = 1Comp
No 2 Compartment = 2Comp
Intermediate = Inter
The original lister numbered the passengers, but did not provide a recapitulation at the
end of the manifest. It appears to be a complete manifest.
An asterisk (*) is used to refer to an item in the transcriber's notes, which further
explains the entry.
A question mark (?) is used for letter/letters that cannot be read because of the quality of
the document. Where possible a suggestion is given in the Transcriber's Notes of what this
letter/letters may be.
The baggage is bracketed to indicate those who are traveling together. Usually, the first
person in the party has the baggage ascribed to them and the following are those in the
party. The exception here is passenger #38, whose name was the last one one page. The
baggage was ascribed to the person at the head of the next page.
14 This surname is not clear. Possibly Trueman? The 4th letter looks like an "r" or
"s". All three of the missing letters rest on the line, neither going below nor
above it.
16 Occupation: Possibly a saddle maker.
32 & 33 Actual age is 4 years, 6 months and 2 years, 6 months respectively.
38 The baggage for this passenger is ascribed to the following passenger. #38 was
the end of one page. It is not known if there is a relationship here, but that
is probably the case, since he had no other baggage.
55 This passenger is not recorded as 'transient', as the remainder of the family. It
is assumed that this is an error on the part of the lister.
61 Actual age is 2 years, 6 months.
140 There is no indication that this passenger has baggage, or that he is travelling
with the previous passenger, but this can be assumed.
142 Viegenshard, Vigenshard.
146 Hennbeck, Heimbeck.
150 Gallrine, Gallurme.
179 Scaten, Scater.
181 This passenger's occupation is Secretary U.S. Agt. It is assumed that he is the
secretary to the U.S. Consul, the next passenger. There is something written in the
column where intention to remain is written, but it is not legible. It begins with
"N" and has about 3 other letters, possibly ending in a "t".
202 This name is at the fold of the document. It is not clear if he, as well as his
wife (#203) both came from the United States. His age is obscured by a hole in the
document.
235 Surname possibilities: Bavier, Baveir.
238 This passenger is not listed as being a transient, although her husband is.
242 There may be a letter at the end of the name. Surname could be: Bon, Bons, Bont.
