Brig Eastern Star

I, Foster, Master of the Brig Eastern Star, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Brig at Barbados, from which Port the said Brig has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Brig Eastern Star whereof (blank) is Master, from Barbados burthen 280 tons.

Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country of which they intend to become inhabitants, and the part of the vessel occupied during the voyage.

   Transcriber's Notes:

   A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
   definitely.

   An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the 
   manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.

   The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not 
   numbered in the original manifest.

   5  An ink blot obscures the last part of this passenger's surname. Surname might 
      possibly be "Wise".
   6  An ink blot obscures the first part of this passenger's surname.  Surname might
      possibly be "Shotta"
   7  Passenger number 7 is the servant of passenger number 6, but the servant's name
      is not recorded.
