Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder. ^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted. * Names were transcribed as seen regardless of spelling. * Passenger number assigned by transcriber for ease of search. * Country they intend to become inhabitants is not ahown as all intended to reside in the U.S. The fact that the last five passengers are indicated to be cabin passengers suggests that all of the other passengers were either in steerage or between decks. Country of origins were poorly delineated in the manifest...in fact there is some evidence that the scribe wrote "Great Britain & Ireland" for most of those passengers, as there is a character in front of Ireland that may be the symbol for "&" on each of the 3 pages of this manifest.
