Transcriber's Notes:
The column, "Date and Cause of Death" was elminated from this transcription as there
were no deaths on this passage.
The original lister did not number the passengers but did provide a recapitulation
at the end of the Manifest, which would indicate that this manifest is a complete list
of all the passengers on this voyage. The numbering was done by the transcriber.
An asterisk (*) is used to refer to an item in the transcriber's notes, which
further explains the entry.
A question mark (?) is used for letter/letters that cannot be read because of the
quality of the document. Where possible a suggestion is given in the Transcriber's
Notes of what this letter/letters may be.
A circumflex (^) is used to indicate missing letters in a name or word. The original
lister showed this by writing the final letter smaller and raising it above the line.
2 Middle initial could be "N".
9 Given name could be Sara or Clara - probably Clara.
19 & 20 Surname could be Kelley, Kellog. See also #46.
22 Surname: Cathral, Catheal.
29 It is presumed that the surname is Christenson.
35 & 36 Surname: Rotel, Rodel.
46 Surname could be Kelley, Kellog. See #19 and 20.
49 There is an "X" after the age for this passenger. At times this "x" is used to
denote a passenger who is ill. However, in this case, one wonders if this passenger
is not the daughter of the captain.
53 Surname: Slotz, Stotz.
56 Surname: Parke or Parks.
58 Surname: Redferen, Redfearn.
75 This surname could be Badley or Bradley.
78 The first inital could be "C", "W".
Eliza Payne
This passenger was my gr-gr aunt. She and her husband, John, came to the United States
in 1863 but were back in England in 1871, returned to the United States by 1872, where
daughter Rachel was born. Hannah and Samuel were both born in England, so they must have
returned there around 1873-1874. They were living in Westmoreland City, Westmoreland County,
PA per 1880 census. I do not know what became of these people. Lora Lee Ament, ISTG
