Ship William Tell


Liverpool, England to New York
9 September 1858

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, James Funck Master of the Ship William Tell do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by Me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York,is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said ship at Liverpool from which port said ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

List or Manifest OF ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Ship Wiliam tell whereof James Funck is Master, from Liverpool burthen 1133 33/95 tons.
Columns represent: Name, Age, Sex, Occupation, The country to which they severally belong, The country to which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on the Voyage, and Part of the Vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. The Destination for all passengers was U.S.America, no deaths were recorded on the voyage, and the Space Occupied for all passengers was Upper between decks; these columns have been omitted from the transcription.

The transcription preserves the original spelling.

The manifest scribe did not number the passengers; the numbers have been added by the 
transcriber.

All ditto marks on the original manifest have been replaced with the actual words 
indicated.

 6  "X" written in front of name.
 7  Name could be Thomas W Caught.
14  2nd letter of surname obscured by lower extension of letter 'g' in surname above.
16  2nd letter of first name is illegible because of fold/roll in manifest, probably Ellen;
    2nd number of Age illegible.
25  First name could be miswritten Joseph.
29  3rd and 4th letters of surname illegible.
