SS City of Washington
I, Peter Conrad Petrie Master of the Str City of Washington do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by Me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York,is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Steamship at Liverpool from which port said Steamship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

The condition of this manifest was poor because of what appears to be water and subsequent
smearing; additional research should be undertaken to confirm findings.
The manifest scribe did not number the passengers; the numbers have been added by the
transcriber.
All ditto marks on the original manifest have been replaced with the actual words indicated.
The manifest scribe used a Germanic letter resembling 'fs'; to aid in reading, these have
been transcribed to 'ss'.
The number "361" was written at the end of the manifest, most likely a passenger count.
The discrepancy in total number was found on page 6 of the manifest where the page count
was written as 62; an actual count of the page shows a total of 64 passengers.
