Tuscarora
There is not a Statement, Sworn Statement, or Manifest Statement for this ship. Therefore, the Captain is unknown as well as the departure port.
Columns represent: passenger name, age, sex, occupation, and country in which each passenger belonged. The passenger list column for passenger sex was omitted; therefore, this transcriber has tried to determine according to first name. There was not an intended country that each passenger would inhabit, but presumably the United States. No deaths were listed for this passage.

Transcriber's Notes:
* Indicates additional information noted below
^ Indicates missing letters in abbreviated names
? Indicates letters or names that are missing or illegible
There were two passenger names that had been entered and then crossed out;
Mary Ann Scott, age 1, with the Scott family passengers 148 through 150;
Jane (?) Beston, age 9, with the Beston family passengers 355 through 358.
If these two passengers died enroute, no notation was entered on the manifest.
The first page of the passenger manifest has a very dark margin which obliterates some
of the first names, and affects passengers 1 through 29.
2, 6, 7, 8, 21, 24, 29 First names covered by dark margin; unable to read
3 Unable to read the letters in last name, due to poor handwriting
138 Not sure if Jane or James, since sex is missing on original manifest
161, 162 Last name could be Kasill
175 Age could be 30
199 Last name illegible; appears to be four letters ending in 'on'
212-215 Last name could be Lostsher; not sure of sex of passenger 215
238 No age listed on manifest
243 Originally name listed as Mary Wood Moore; line drawn through Wood
254 Not sure of sex, although Biddy appears to be feminine name; occupation is listed
for male
257 Last name written as Garry; could be Grey as the following children are written Grey
313 Not sure of first name or sex
334 Unable to read first name; could be Mary
341 Name is written Mary Jane only without ditto marks; not sure if last name is Henry
as is the preceding passenger
342-345 Last name could be Teadley
360 Unable to read last name; appears to be six letters beginning with 'P' and ending
with 'son'
Correspondence September 6, 2007 passengers 316-323 Jackson and Glossip
John (316) and Mary (317) Jackson are my ggg-grandparents.
George (320) was their oldest child at 7 yrs. old.
Sarah (321) and Mary (318) were 7 yrs. and 8 mos. old respectively. All three
of these children were born in Yorkshire, England.
John and Mary Jackson (316 and 317) went on to have two more male children
in Sullivan Co., PA: John Lyman Jackson, followed by Ben Jackson.
John Lyman Jackson, the 4th child born to John and Mary Jackson and the first
born here in the U.S., is my gg-grandfather.
I am attaching the only known photo of John "Johnny" Jackson and a larger view of his
cabin at Hillsgrove, Sullivan Co., Pennsylvania.
We believe also that the Glossips where traveling with the Jacksons to connect
with Ann Glossip's (319) husband who was already here.
John and Mary Jackson wound-up in northern PA, in what can only be described
as a rugged, mountainous, heavily forested and trackless wilderness: Sullivan
Co., PA. These same conditions pretty much prevail today with the exception
that now there are at least a few good roads in that area.
I know the exact place of John and Mary Jackson's burial sites, as well as
their then tiny 8 mo. old daughter listed as "Mary" but on who's gravestone
is etched "Martha". It has been told that tiny Mary/Martha was sick and nearly
died on the voyage, and there was fear she would be buried at sea.
I am attaching two scanned pages from a very local booklet that was published
I think sometime between 1925 and 1930. These particular pages were contributions
to this locally historic publication that pertain to the immigrant Jackson family
and their life after they got to where they were going; that being Sullivan County, PA.
Jackson Family History Page 1
Jackson Family History Page 2
Attached also is a photo from that same publication depicting George Jackson,
(aka George "Pappy" Jackson) who appears as Passenger No. 320, the 7 yr. old male
along with his parents on the Tuscarora's Passenger list, Nov. 1848.
Thank You so much for your hard work. It is greatly appreciated!
Best Regards,
Mike Clarke
