Transcriber’s Notes:

* The entire statement of the Health Officer and the Mayor at the port is not able
to be read. Some of it apparently was missed when duplicated.

An asterisk (*) is used to denote something that is further explained in
the transcriber's notes.

A question mark (?) is used for letter/letters which are unreadable due to the
condition of the document. This manifest has numerous dark spots which reflect
damage to the document - either tears or burns, one does not know.

The original lister recorded the name of the head of the household (most of the
time the father) and then "vrouw" (wife in Dutch) and then "kind" or "kinderen" for
the child/children. The transcriber has enumerated the wife and the children, with
as much information as the original lister recorded. At times he listed the "ouste"
(oldest) age, but not the other ages; in this case, the transcriber listed the
"younger than age" in parentheses.

The original lister did not number the list, but because of his recapitulation
of the number who died and the number who remained, it is certain that no
passengers are missing from the list.

Those passengers who died were: The Doss daughter (#16), Mrs Hauss (#40),
Lorenz Mauz (#70), the Naerr? child (#88), Gotlieb Fridrich Schaal (#113) and
Joseph Friedrich Silber (#116). It does not indicate specifically the name or
family of the baby that was born on the voyage.

Someone seemed to be trying to count the children who were under five years. They
listed the number at the left margin. Therefore, if this is the case, the following
families would have had a child/children under 5: Bruker (2), Brucker (1), Boehm (1),
Friz (2), Federer (1), Gotlieb Mauz family (2), Lorenz Mauz family (1), Muller (2),
Nur?? (1), Roth (1), Schweitzer (1), Silber (1), Schik (1)

2 The word which looks like "disregard" is lightly written above the wife's
listing. It is not known what is meant by this. It is a different hand-
         writing than the list itself.
14-16 There is an umlaut over the “o”.
39-41 The first name is obscured by a dark spot. However, it ends in "h"
42 This is a maid that accompanied the couple. The word "meid" (Dutch for
maid) is written and below that is the name Christine Magdalena. No surname
         is given.
49 The first name is obscured by a dark spot; second name is probably Georg.
50 The first name is obscured by a dark spot; the first letter of the name
goes below the line as "G" - Georj Friedrich??
86-88 The end of this surname is obscured by a dark spot; it is not possible
to determine if there are letters beyond the ones that can be seen.
89-93 The remainder of the surname is obscured by a dark spot; however, the next
letter seems to be one that goes up, as "h", "k", probably "k". One
cannot see if there are other letters beyond this.
