I, Captain Maitland Sampson, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New-York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Harbinger whereof I am Master, from Havre. 266-269 This surname has been added by the same writer who added the occupations.
The given name is written by the original lister. If this name had not been
added, the presumption would be that the surname was Christmann, since the
original lister did not use dittoes, but merely left the space blank. Perhaps
there is some relationship between these persons and the Christmanns.
