Transcriber's Notes:

* indicates an error on the part of the original record or is used to call your attention
to additional information in the Notes.
? indicates letters or words that cannot be read due to the quality of the original document,
and is clarified in the Notes.
This ship had few passengers as the Monarch Line had a severe slump in the mid-1880's and
went into liquidation in 1886.

5 Location is too blurred to read, missing letters are midline.
31 Surname ending is unreadable, but all letters stay within the midline.
33 No marks for location on ship.
34 No marks for location on ship.
43 The first name Allice is written on the manifest with two l's.
46 First name is possibly Elenor.
49 The final column has a small, unreadable word written above Sojourn.
60 Occupation is probably Machinist.
65 Surname is possibly Zysera; letters are both midline, but only a guess.
66 Surname is possibly Malter or Nalter, probably not a W as it would be unlike
    the other W's.

Correspondence from Lynn Blazek, Passenger #36, Ida Nantwich
Ida Nantwich came to the United States to join her fiance, Gustav Edward Penner. After her arrival on April 12, 1886 on this ship, she took the train to Seattle, Washington Territory, where she was married on April 25, 1886. She was born to Johann Nantwich and Henrietta Tiessen on 27 June 1861 in Dirschau, West Prussia. She had three siblings: Johann Ernst Armin Nantwich, Johann Karl Emil Nantwich, and Matilda Marina Elizabeth Nantwich. Nantwich is an unusual spelling of the surname (usually seen as Nentwich), but it is clearly written as such on their church baptismal records. She left home at about age 14 and by 1886 was a cook in London at the home of H. J. Bollman Condy. Gus and Ida had six children in Seattle: Ernst Emil Penner, Margarethe Thelma Penner, Gustav Adolph Penner, Ida Marie Penner, Johannes David Penner, and Ruth Lydia Penner. Ida died on August 30, 1948 in Seattle.
