* P. T. O.. for Cabin Passengers
On the last page of the Manifest, under the column “died on the voyage”, there is a total number of 17.
Transcriber’s Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
' Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted.
In the NARA file this voyage is listed as Hamburg, Harve to New York. This appears
to be an error as the Master wrote Hamburg haven meaning Hamburg harbor on the
Manifest. The voyage is Hamburg to New York.
Numerous errors in the entries were observed; given name vs sex; age vs children;
family groups from different locations. Transcription is as written. Blank spaces
indicate unreadable or no entry.
The scribe for this manifest wrote n and u in identical manner; also m and ui or iu.
The transcriber used best judgment.
Passengers with mark indicating died on voyage are 751, 759, 771, 907, 951, 956, 957.
P.T.O. is believed to indicate Cabin Passengers are on a separate Private Travel Organization list.
904 could be DOMELAND
927, 928, 929, 930, 932, 933, 934 could be LOSSIU or LOSSUI
943, 944 could be TANSCHER
