Bark Fanny

Londonderry, Ireland to New York
12 May 1855

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Patrick McGraph*, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the British Bark Fanny whereof I am Master, from Londonderry.
So help me God
(signed) Patrick McGrath*
Sworn to this 12th of May 1855
Before me (signed) A. Cathwick, DC
List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Bark Fanny whereof McGraph* is Master, from Londonderry, burthen 427 tons.
Columns represent: Name, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country to which they intend to become inhabitants, and died on the voyage. As all passengers were from Ireland, all were coming to the U.S. and no one died on the voyage, those columns were eliminated.

Transcriber's Notes:

 * The use of an * indicates an omission, error or an explanation of
notations made by the original recorder.
? The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the
   quality of original document.
^ The use of an ^ indicates the latter part of the name was superscribed.

* The DC wrote the captain's name as McGraph, but the captain clearly signed it McGrath.

* The captain listed every female on the ship as a spinster (unmarried woman). This
transcriber believes that the women listed directly below a male with the same
surname and above children with the same surname are probably wives, not spinsters.

* In each place on this transcript Where there were several children in a family,
the Captain wrote the word "children" vertically in the occupation column.
In order to better conform with ISTG guidelines, that has been changed by this
transcriber to the word "child" in each space.

  8 Surname could be Tower.
32-35 Surname could be Attajart, Attagart or Attagant.
99 Passenger is probably male as indicated by name, but marked as female by
         list transcriber.
114-115 These two passengers were numbered by the transcriber and added to the list
as it seems the captain included them in the count (ie. the number 115
         beside his signature).
