definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not
numbered in the original manifest.
The recorder often employs an abbreviated version of their given name, such as
"Chas" for Charles, "Thos" or "Tho^s" for Thomas, "Hy" for Henry, "Jno" for John,
"Geo" for George and "Jas" for James.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates a passenger's Occupation, such as
"Merch" or "Mercht" for "Merchant", "Mech" for Mechanic and "Labr" for Laborer.
3 Surname is recorded as "Feeny", but might possibly be "Feeney".
4 Surname is both faint and the letters poorly formed. Name begins with "McK"
but the following five or six letters are undecipherable.
