The pages on this film are not numbered so finding a particular ship can be difficult.
However, there is a system of numbering the manifests that is a part of the National
Archives file system on Chinese persons. These numbers are included in the identification
of the film and reel numbers below.
The heading for this ship has been obscured on the film by another manifest that was filmed
on the same page so most of the heading is not visible. What is presented above is what
regularly appears as the printed part of the heading with only the blanks that were filmed
completed.
The first two paragraphs above are printed as part of the form for this list. The next
paragraph and its heading is a piece of paper attached to the page. The following paragraph
is a separate stamp placed on the body of the page and then completed.
The following column had no entry:
If accredited officers of Chinese Government, state facts
The cover sheet for this list has two stamps.
Inspector
Land the within named Chinese passenger on identification and judication of
registration certificate.
(signature) JJ Tobin, Collector Nov 7, 1896
I certify that I have this day landed the within named Chinese passenger.
(signature) John Lynch, Chinese Inspector, Nov 7, 1896
According to the National Archives branch in San Bruno, California it is possible that they have
some information on any Chinese passenger who arrived in San Francisco after 1886.
1-6 Occupation is written in for only passenger 1. The other passengers have ditto marks.
The word entered is very difficult to read and could be either Sailor or Laborer.
1 Last Residence is extremely difficult to read The word begins with C and possibly ends with
ville, Coupville. It could also be Coulee City or Coulee Dam, however the Dam was not built
until long after this ship arrived.
