Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder. ^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted. * Names were transcribed as seen regardless of spelling. None died on the voyage, therefore this coloumn was eliminated. The arrival date is hard to read, it could be June 14, 1876. 12 - 14: the last name could be Higgs. 30 - 35: the last name could be Careathers.
