DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, H. A. G. Heynaber, Master of the Bremen S.S. Bremen, do solemnly,
sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by
me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection
District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken
on board the said Steamship at Bremen from which Port the said Steamship has now
arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the
occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each
during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of
which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or
Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said
Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
The transcriber numbers all the passengers consecutively 1 through 141, even
though the recorder of the original manifest numbered the 1st Cabin passengers
1-7, the 2nd Cabin passengers 1-13, and the Steerage passengers 1-121.
The entry "United States of America" in the destination country column
is shortened to "U. States" for formatting reasons. "Male" and "Female" in the
Sex column are shortened to "M" and "F" for the same reason.
The recorder did not always use ditto marks to indicate "same as above". Many
occupation entries are left blank and the reader is confronted with the problem
of interpreting the recorder's intended meaning. Occupations are only given in
the transcription if the recorder entered them. Since it was common for recorders
not to make an entry in the occupation column for female passengers or for children,
a possible though not a certain interpretation of the intended occupation where
left blank is that of the occupation of the last adult male entered above.

the passage the 31st December 1867, Dead the 4th January 1868".

"Cigarmaker".
31 There is an umlaut above the "o" in surname "Gock".
32 Surname is either "Gutmann" or "Gertmann".
34 Given name appears to be either "Egidens" or "Egidurs".
48-49 There is an umlaut above the "o" in surname "Worner".
65 Given name appears to be written as "Mathews", but might possibly be "Mathias".
72 Surname is possibly "Schneckenbeiber", "Schneckenbeiter" or "Schneckenbecker".

And indeed these passengers are listed as passengers numbers 17-19 in the
Second Cabin, plus an infant born to them during the passage.
134-135 Surname is possibly "Chautem", "Chaulem" or "Chauhem". Occupation is
recorded as "Potograph", likely intending "Photographer".
