Ship American Congress

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, S W Mathes Master of the American Congress do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by Me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York,is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Ship at London from which port said Ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

List or Manifest OF ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Ship American Congress whereof Samuel Witt Mathes is Master, from London burthen 863 tons.
Columns represent: Name, Age, Sex, Occupation, The country to which they severally belong, The country to which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on the Voyage, and Part of the Vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. The Destination for all passengers was U.S.A./United States, no deaths were recorded on the voyage, and the Space Occupied for all passengers was "Between decks/Passenger Deck"; these columns have been omitted from the transcription.

The handwriting of this manifest was poor; additional research should be undertaken

the transcriber.

The manifest scribe used vertical lines probably to indicate continuation/duplication 
of the last written word(s).

11  3rd and 4th letters of surname illegible.
18  3rd and 6th letters of surname not clear, 3rd letter could be 'r' or 'v',
    6th letter could be 'a' or 'c'; Rarciah, Rarcich, Ravciah, or Ravcich.
24  1st letter of first name is faded, illegible.
28  2nd number of Age illegible.
28-29  7th and 8th letters of surname illegible.
30  Last letter of first name illegible.
