Affidavit of the Master or Commanding Officer or First or Second Officer I II Officer of the Cincinnati from Genova do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that I have caused the surgeon of said vessel sailing therewith or the surgeon employed by the owners thereof to make a physical and oral examination of each and all of the aliens named in the forgoing Lists or manifest Sheets 29 in number, and that from the report of said surgeon and from my own investigation, I believe that no one of the said aliens is an idiot, or imbecile, or a feeble minded person, or insane person, or a pauper, or is likely to become a public charge, or is afflicted with tuberculosis, or with a loathsome or dangerous contagious disease, or is a person who has been convicted of or who admits having committed a felony or other crime or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or is a polygamist or one admitting belief in the practice of polygamy or an anarchist, or under promise or agreement express or implied to perform labor in the United States, or a prostitute, or a woman or girl coming to the united states for the purpose of prostitution, or for any other immoral purpose, and that also, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, the information in the said List or Manifests concerning each of said aliens named therin is correct and true in every respect. This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on
4 April. Page number 47 is stamped on the top and bottom of the given name column. On the
top left corner of this page is written, bold and large, the number 9. The copy of this
manuscript page is fairly easy to read.
Recorders, often used the word ditto or d, which looks like a division symbol. This
transcriber has replaced all ditto marks with the information referred to. This recorder
wrote gender as mas for masculine, or fem for feminine, and marital status as m for married,
and sin or sing for single. Transcriber has written these as they are on the manuscript. The
handwriting of passenger names are different than the rest of the columns on this page,
indicating two recorders. Cities given may be a small section of a larger city, or a town
outside it, unable to find most in Atlas. New line numbers were written before the printed
line numbers, which begin with 241 and end with 270.
Passengers 920, 921, 925, 932, 933, 934, 935, 936, 937, 938, 939, 940, 945, 946, 947, and 948
are lined out. This usually means that the passenger was not on this ship. They do not have a
check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as all other
passengers do. The nearest relative information is often visible either below, above, or
through the line. The number of passengers making this trip is written below the last
residences. 4 T is written next to that, which may be the number of Non Immigrants on the page.
Of 30 passengers written on this page, 14 made this passage.
The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w, x, or y. The letter h is only used with ch
or gh.

is not clear, maybe Sclaiada, Scloiada, or Schiada. The letter looks written over. Last
letter may have an accent over it, or is just a mark on the copy. Surname of mother is most
likely her maiden name, as was the custom of Italian women to use in that era.
923 Blando, before the printed line number is another hand written one, 245, which looks like
it is crossed off. This passenger is not crossed off, meaning he did make this trip.

in that era. Destination, script of State by recorder J and Y look the same but Utica is in
NY.
924 Scardina, before the printed line number is another hand written one, 246. Numbers are
written from occupation to race columns, 11 a dash, 51706. These numbers are a verification
for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is a naturalization
district number, the second set is either an application number or the Certificate of
Arrival number. There are no numbers like a date as there often is to indicate when the
person applied. Occupation is written as Coahman, and maybe misspelling of Coachman or
Coatman. Last residence has d for ditto from 923. Destination, script of State of J and Y
by recorder look the same but Buffalo is in NY.
925 Narisco, before the printed line number is another hand written one, 247, which is crossed
off. Passenger is crossed out by a line. This usually means they did not board this ship.
Most is easy to read, either above, below or through the line. Age, second digit is not
clear as line that becomes thicker here, maybe 24, 28, or 29. Last residence has d for
ditto from 923. Surname of wife is most likely her maiden name, as was the custom of
Italian women to use in that era. Her surname and given name letters are not clear. Surname
looks similar but not quite like the father of the passenger above and maybe Scardina or
Scoerdina. Her given name, the letters are not clear, very light and maybe one or two
names. Can not make out more than shown, Pro??ri?ousa, nothing similar was found.

d for ditto from 923. Surname of wife, second letter is not clear, and maybe Fasitana or
Fusitana. This is most likely her maiden name, as was the custom of Italian women to use in
that era. Destination, script of State by recorder of J and Y look the same but Utica is in
NY.
927 Federico, before the printed line number is another hand written one, 249, which has an X
over it. An X in the page number column means that either the immigrant went to temporary
detention or had a Special Inquiry hearing. Numbers are written from occupation to race
columns, 7 a dash, 191379, a dash, then like a date, 4 a diagonal dash, 20 a diagonal dash,
42. These numbers are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926.
The first number is a naturalization district number, the second set is either an
application number or the Certificate of Arrival number. Last set of numbers maybe the date
the person applied. Letters from the previous passengers information partially covers two
of these numbers. The first numbee, the fifth number after the first dash 7, it looks more
