Affidavit of the Master or Commanding Officer or First or Second Officer I II Officer of the Cincinnati from Genova do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that I have caused the surgeon of said vessel sailing therewith or the surgeon employed by the owners thereof to make a physical and oral examination of each and all of the aliens named in the forgoing Lists or manifest Sheets 29 in number, and that from the report of said surgeon and from my own investigation, I believe that no one of the said aliens is an idiot, or imbecile, or a feeble minded person, or insane person, or a pauper, or is likely to become a public charge, or is afflicted with tuberculosis, or with a loathsome or dangerous contagious disease, or is a person who has been convicted of or who admits having committed a felony or other crime or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or is a polygamist or one admitting belief in the practice of polygamy or an anarchist, or under promise or agreement express or implied to perform labor in the United States, or a prostitute, or a woman or girl coming to the united states for the purpose of prostitution, or for any other immoral purpose, and that also, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, the information in the said List or Manifests concerning each of said aliens named therin is correct and true in every respect. This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on 4 April. Page number, 44 is stamped on the top and the bottom of the given name column. On the top left corner of this page is written, bold and large, a 6 P or 6 a. It looks like a squared letter P. Recorders often used the word do or ditto for some columns. Most passengers on this page have dittos that look like a d, or a division symbol, in the column of last residence of the passenger from the first line, and are noted in the transcriber data. The recorder wrote gender as mas for masculine, and marital status as m for married, and sin or sing for single. This transcriber has written each column as it is seen on the manuscript. New line numbers were hand written on this page, before the printed line numbers, they begin with the number 151 and end with 180. Passengers 848, and 856 are lined out. This usually means that this passenger was not on this ship. They do not have a check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as all other passengers do and some columns are blank. Of the 30 passengers on this page, 28 made this passage as noted by the recorder at the bottom of the page across the last residence columns of the last 3 passengers. This page was signed by inspector T S b Loro??. The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w, x, or y. The letter h is only used with ch or gh. City looks like Brunsvich, only similar one found is Brunswick in NJ, none found in NY. 858 Castano, before the printed line number is another hand written one, 180. Last residence of passenger has ditto mark, either from 845 who was crossed out or 848, but residence of relative is Merto, same as 848. Destination, writing of the J in NJ, and Y in NY are similar for this recorder. Only Bound Brook found is in NJ, none in NY. Inspector, Loro??, letters of what looks like initials and surname are very light and not clear. Initials maybe T S b or T P S. Surname last letters are too light to read. His signature is below the last address column of the passengers.
