Transcriber Notes:
* is for error by the original recorder or to note other information on the copy added to the
transcriber's notes.
? Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy, letters are too small, written over
or elaborate writing.
This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on
4 April. Page number, 39 is stamped on the top of the given name column. Stamped on the
bottom of the same column is the number 39. The writing on this manuscript page is close
together and at times difficult to read.
Recorders, often used the word do or ditto for able to read; as all here are for columns from
nationality, race and country of origin. These are from the first line Passenger 325. Most
passengers also have dittos in columns able to read and write, occupation, passenger and
nearest relative residences, and destinations. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the
information referred to.
Passengers 679,680, 684, 686, 687, 688, 689, 690, 693, 694, 695, 696, 697, 698, 699, and 701
are lined out. This usually means that this passenger was not on this ship. They do not have
a check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as all other
passengers do. Most is hard to read, covered by the line, except for what is stated. This
information is visible either below or above the line. At the end of this page, under the
City of origin, the letter T was written. Of 30 passengers on this page, 14 made this passage.
The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w, x, or y. The letter h is only used with ch
or gh.
The passenger listing above is only one page of this manifest. Both may be seen on the Ellis
Island Web Site.
