Transcriber's Notes:

* is for error by the original recorder(s) or to note other
information on the copy, added to the transcriber's notes.

? is for what transcriber is unable to read due to the quality of the
copy, letters are too small, written over or elaborate writing.

This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3
April, and Palermo on 4 April. Page number, 25 is stamped on the top
of the given name column. Stamped on the bottom of the same column is
the number 23. The script on this page is darker than most, and
   fairly easy to read.

Penmanship of this recorder is variable and difficult to read, some
letters are written in several different ways.

Recorders often used the word do or ditto for able to read; as all
here are for columns from nationality, race, to country of origin.
These are from the first line Passenger 411 to 421, then again from
422 to 438. Many passengers also have dittos in columns able to read
and write, occupation, passenger and nearest relative residences, and
destinations. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the
information it referred to. This manuscript uses the British spelling
for the occupation of Labourer; and Farm Laborer is written as Farm Lab.

Passengers 385, 386, 402,405, and 408 are lined out. This usually means
that this passenger was not on this ship. They do not have a check
before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as
all other passengers do. Of the 26 passengers on this page, 20 made the
   passage.

The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w. The letter h is only
   used with ch or gh.

Philadelphia, 1943. Cities: Encyclopedia Britannica Atlas, Chicago,
1947 and Rand McNally & Co. Atlas, 1978.

385 ?????, passenger is crossed out by a thick line. This usually means they did not
board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the line, except for what is
stated. Surname, first letter unclear looks to begin with a T but maybe an I.
Address looks like Supico but maybe Luparo or Liparo, but for relative looks like
Liparo or Siparo. This maybe a section of Rome, nothing like any found. Destination,
looks like Graensburg, maybe a misspelling of Greensberg.
386 ?omeo, First letter is unclear unlike any other on this page or others by this
recorder. Looks like a V with loops on top of each line, maybe Vomeo or Tomeo.
Information appears exactly like passenger 385, except for first letters of surname
and relationship of nearest relative, so it may possibly be a correction? Age was
written over, changed from 18 to 16. Last Address, is ditto from
385. Relative given only as Mother, no name is given. Destination, looks like Braanock,
nothing similar found in NY or elsewhere.
387 Zuccaro, letters unclear, surname maybe Zuccaio. Address is ditto from 385. Given
name of relative looks like Mazrareno or Mazzareno. This maybe an area of Rome, but
it is on the same line as Father rather than the line below, as is usual for
     residences of relatives.
388 Torto, Nearest relative, relationship is not given, only Guiseppe and what looks
like Mozzano or Mazrano. Like 387, this is on the same line of the relative given
name, not below as usual for the address of a relative. And a city is written on the
     line below.
389 G?e?o, passenger is crossed out by a thick line. This usually means they did not
board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the line except for what is
stated. Surname maybe same as relative, Greco. Given name, D?o, maybe Deo or Dco the
letter is unclear. a bracket between given names and ages connects 389 and 390.
Occupation is either ditto from 388, Farm Lab, or was not filled in. Last Address is
blocked by line, maybe same as relative, Spazzano G. Destination, is also blocked by
line and lightly written, is not able to fully make out.
390 Sp??a, passenger is crossed out by a thick line. This usually means they did not
board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines except for what is
stated. Sp??a, surname maybe Spina. Given name, Siraf??a, is unclear, blocked by
line, can not make out the letters. a bracket between given names and ages connects
389 and 390 but nothing is written before it, as is usually done. Address and
nearest relative has do for ditto from passenger 389, destination column may have
     ditto marks from line before.
391 G?ffredo, second letter is unclear, maybe Goffredo or Gaffredo. Above it is a
circular mark, which may indicate it is an o, since no letter in Italian has an
accent mark above them like this. Destination, looks written over, more like UY but
maybe NY, the city, Cha????, last letters are very unclear, unable to read. Written
between given name and age of passenger 395 is, the word sister, then a number sign,
and the number 7, indicating this passenger, on line 7 of this manuscript paage, is
the sister of the passenger number 395, on line 11 of this page.
392 ?o?ie, letter unclear, maybe Ionie or Iosrie. a bracket between given names and ages
connects 392 and 393. Destination, Oh ?? letters are unclear, looks like it could be
     Cleveland.
393 ?os?e, surname letter is unclear, looks an I, maybe Iosue, or Iosne, no such name
found. Marital status is abbreviated for widow. a bracket between given names and
ages connects 392 and 393. Destination has ditto marks from 392, could be Cleveland.
394 ?occi, surname letter is unclear, maybe an I, like Iocci or an S, like Socci. Given
name, Co?no, letters also unclear, looks like Cossno, or Conno. The only similar
name found, is Cosimo, though the next to the last letter looks like more like an n.
Name of relative looks more like Mana than Maria.
395 Gaffredo, written between given name and age is the word sister, then a number sign,
and the number 7, indicating this passenger, on line 11 of this manuscript page, is
the sister of passenger number 391, on line 7 of this page.
396 Di Santo, written above given name are numbers, looks like an L, a dash, and 986 a
dash 633 and another dash, which may indicate the passenger had an early
verification or record check upon entry.
397 Martino, given name of relative, D?o, this letter is unclear, maybe Dco or Deo, no
      similar name found.
398 Pillarilla, a bracket between given names and ages connects 398, 399 and 400 and
over given names of 399 and 400 is written Children. Surname of relative, looks like
Zanelli, but n is not clear. There is a large bold letter or word that covers the
given name of relative and the beginning of the destination. The destination looks
like Tam or Jam, then a word that may begin with a J and ends in t, then the word
Creek, little of it is very clear, and nothing similar was found.
399 Zanelli, a bracket between given names and ages connects 398, 399 and 400, and over
given names of 399 and 400 is written Children. Most columns are written as do for
ditto from 398, including nearest relative.
400 Zanelli, a bracket between given names and ages connects 398, 399 and 400, and over
given names of 399 and 400 is written Children. Most columns are written as do for
ditto from 398, including nearest relative.
401 Mezzacippa, Surname is written in a different hand writing, most likely to clarify
recorders spelling, which looks like Mezracappa.
402 Mezzacippa, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did
not board this ship. Most is easy to read, barely covered by the lines. All columns
have ditto marks from 401, except for given name, age, marital status and gender,
     and nearest relative.
403 ?occi, surname letter is unclear, maybe an I, like Iocci or an S, like Socci.
404 Mast?zo, last three letters of first surname are written again, above recorders,
possibly to clarify the letters as ezo or Mastezo. The recorders script looks more
like Masturzo. Above that is written the second surname, Maresca or Marecca, that
letter is not clear. It maybe, the different surname is the maiden name of this
     passenger.
405 Di Francesco, passenger is crossed out by a thick line. This usually means they did
not board this ship. Some is hard to read, covered by the line, except for what is
stated. Last address, To??a, looks like Tomia or Tonica, may be Teramo. Second word
of last address, Tera???o, looks like Teranio. Address of relative, To?ica, looks
more like Tosica, nothing similar found. Name of relative ??at?? o is hard to make
out, the letters are unclear. Most likely it is the maiden name of the mother. It
looks like Luotraro, but the first letter does not look like any other letter l this
recorder wrote. Nor does it look like any letter written on this page.
406 Tomasetti, numbers are written above surname 8 then ? is unclear, it looks like a
capitol E, maybe a 3? then 0270, there are no spaces between this series of numbers,
     then there is a dash, and like a date, a 5 a diagonal line, a 4 a diagonal line a
32, another dash, then looks like sm or pm, letters are unclear. Above given name
are more numbers 147763, a dash, Feb 27, a dash, 26. These maybe stand for a New
York file number, indicating an early verification or record check. The date maybe
the date of search. Last Address and town of relative, have ditto marks from 405,
see above for explanation. Given name of relative looks like Ernna but maybe Emma.
407 Tomasetti, surname is blank, most likely ditto from 406, instead, this column has a
series of numbers, first looks like a printed N, a dash, then 917 a diagonal line,
671, which may indicate the passenger had an early verification or record check upon
entry. Address of passenger and relative have ditto marks or written as do for ditto
from 405, see it for explanation. Town of final destination is written over, and
looks like it has two words, first begins with a T or S, second word maybe two or
three letters, beginning with a G, but transcriber can not make any of it out.
408 Fer??, Biag?, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they
did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines except for what
is stated. Surname letters are unclear, blocked by the line. Given name looks like
Biagri or Biagi, the only name similar is Biagio, meaning Blase. Address of
passenger and relative have ditto marks or written as do for ditto from 405, see
     it for further explanation.
409 Agostino, Information for this passenger was written by a different recorder than
the rest of the page. Surname for passenger looks to end with an o, where surname
for relative looks to end in i, maybe either Agostino or Agostini. Nearest relative
is a full address is given for nearest relative, which is rare to find in this
manuscript, usually only a town is written. After destination is stamped, NON IMM
for Non Immigrant, yet their final destination is Lima Peru. It is not certain if
the passenger is not an immigrant to the US or to Peru.
410 La?ger, Surname is written by a different recorder than rest of the page. Surname
looks like Lainger, but maybe Lauger. Last address is written as German, not
Germany, letters of town T??o?ia are unclear looks like Truosia or Trnoria, but
maybe Prussia. Address of nearest relative, Prussia Ill Chicago, are all written on
same line. Final destination is written in that column also. This may mean relative
lived there at that time, or was a simple mistake by the recorder.
