Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy, letters are too small, written over or elaborate writing. This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on 4 April. Page number, 22 is stamped on the top of the given name column. Stamped on the bottom of the same column is the number 20. The writing on this page is very light and often difficult to read. Recorders, often used the word do or ditto for able to read; as all here are for columns from nationality, race and country of origin. These are from the first line Passenger 295, who was put on page 10 with a probable relative, with identical data. Most passengers also have dittos in columns able to read and write, occupation, passenger and nearest relative residences, and destinations. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the information referred to. On the manuscript, the Occupations, Labourer is the British spelling for Laborer; and Farm Lab. was written for Farm Laborer. Passengers 368, 372, and 373 are lined out. This usually means that this passenger was not on this ship. They do not have a check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as all other passengers do. Of the 30 passengers on this page, 27 made this passage. The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w. The letter h is only used with ch or gh. Sources: Names, Italian English Dictionary, David McKay Co, Philadelphia, 1943. Cities: Encyclopedia Britannica Atlas, Chicago, 1947 and Rand McNally & Co. Atlas, 1978. 355 Papa, Filippo, Passengers address, letters are small, light. Written in the Nationality and Race columns, US Cit for US Citizen. Addresses of passenger and relative, letters are small and unclear, looks like Giovinarro, found Giovinazzo in atlas. Relative, looks to have both her given and maiden name listed, maybe Polacia or Polacca, most likely her maiden name.
