Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy, letters are too small, written over or elaborate writing. This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on 4 April. Page number, 22 is stamped on the top of the given name column. Stamped on the bottom of the same column is the number 20. The writing on this page is very light and often difficult to read. Recorders, often used the word do or ditto for able to read; as all here are for columns from nationality, race and country of origin. These are from the first line Passenger 295, who was put on page 10 with a probable relative, with identical data. Most passengers also have dittos in columns able to read and write, occupation, passenger and nearest relative residences, and destinations. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the information referred to. On the manuscript, the Occupations, Labourer is the British spelling for Laborer; and Farm Lab. was written for Farm Laborer. Passengers 334, 337, and 338 are lined out. This usually means that this passenger was not on this ship. They do not have a check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as all other passengers do. At the end of the page, line 30, passenger 354. In the country of origin column is written the word Rech, and numbers 4, a diagonal line, 4, a diagonal line and 39. These may not refer to this passenger but maybe a notation for other or all passengers on this page. Of the 30 passengers on this page, 27 made this passage. The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w, x, or y. The letter h is only used with ch or gh. The passenger listing above is only one page of this manifest. Both may be seen on the Ellis Island Web Site. Sources: Names, Italian English Dictionary, David McKay Co, Philadelphia, 1943. Cities: Encyclopedia Britannica Atlas, Chicago, 1947 and Rand McNally & Co. Atlas, 1978. 325 La?ini, letters look like pointed bumps, surname maybe Lanni or Lauini. Written after passenger 236 given name is Bro for brother, with a bracket connecting the two, betweem their names and ages. 326 La?ini, surname has ditto marks from 325. Written after passengers given name, is Bro, for brother, with a bracket that connects the two between their given names and ages. Address of passenger and wife is written as do for ditto, destination has dito marks. 327 Si?o, letters are unclear. Surname maybe Sivo or Sino. Letters of address are unclear, maybe Modngrio, Modnguo, or Modugno, but address of relative looks more like Motdugno or Motdnguo. Nothing close found. Given name of Mother, V??a, is written over, looks like Vesa, but maybe Vina. Her surname, P??denza, first letters are unclear, looks like Pru, surname maybe Prudenza. 328 Pirelli, letter is unclear, maybe Perelli. Address, is a ditto from 327. 329 Rameri, Address is ditto from 327. 330 Vessio, second digit of age was written over, looks like 33, but maybe 30 or 38. Last Address, Pale?e letter unclear, looks like Palese, but address of relative looks like Palere, none similar found. 331 Rossi, Ora?io, given name letters unclear, looks like Orazio or maybe Orario. Second digit of age 3? was written over looks like 38, but maybe 39 or 33. Last address letter was written over and looks like Pontelandoffo, but address of relative is clearly Pontelandolfo. 332 Ciarlo, occupation looks like Pavir, maybe Paver, nothing similar found. Occupation, address of passenger and relative, and final destination have dito marks from 331. 333 Ciarlo, Surname, occupation, able to read and write, addresses of passenger and relative, and final destination have dito marks from 331. Written under columns from Nationality to country of origin is written U S Citizen in bold letters. 334 ??, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines except for what is stated, which is either above or below the lines. Surnames and given name are long, may be a female with maiden name or male with two given names. Can not tell if passenger is male or female, nor if they can read and write or not. There seems to be something written in the able to read column, but it may be from the occupation column. Relatives name is covered by line, unable to read. 335 Massimino, between given names and age columns is a bracket that connects passengers 335 to 336, wife is written above given name of 336. Transcriber is unable to read if passenger can read or write, as lines covers all columns of passenger 334. The recorder would have written yes or no if the information was different from the line before. Passenger 331 shows a yes, and line 336 is not to able to read and write. 336 Messimino, between given names and age columns, a bracket that connects passengers 335 to 336, wife is written above given name of 336. Occupation column is blank, rest of columns, except for able to read or write, are written as do or ditto from 335. 337 G??, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines except for what is stated, which is either above or below the lines. Surname looks to begin with Ga, and maybe Ga?ila, Ga?ita, Ga?ilio, or Ga?itio. Given name maybe Antonio. Age looks like 22. It looks like there is a bracket between given names and age columns, connecting 337 to 338. Place of origin maybe Missusa, Misura, or Nuzusa. Unable to read names of relative, it looks like two names, most likely a given name and maiden name. The first letter of the first word might be T??tella or T??lelia. Second word might begin with letters Da, or Sa, and the ending maybe tia, lia, or dia. The rest is covered by the lines. Destination is misspelling of Syracuse. 338 ??, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines except for what is stated, which is either above or below the lines. Surname looks different from passenger above, maybe a maiden name. It looks like there is a bracket between given names and age columns connecting passengers 337 to 338. All collumns, except for age, gender and occupation are either do or ditto marks from 337. 339 L?ongo, letters unclear, surname maybe Luongo or Liongo, and there is a dash over the n. Numbers are written in the Occupation to Nationality columns, 1, then a horizontal dash, 279950, a horizontal dash, then as a date, 12, diagonal dash, 29, a diagonal dash and 39. Transcriber does not know what these mean. Due to thick lines over all columns from previous two passengers, can not tell if this passenger can read or not, though passenger 336 shows it as no, so it is possible L?ongo can not read, as recorders noted any changes in the columns. Name of nearest relative is blank, only the word Wife was written. 340 Colelia, given name column has two names, rare for manuscripts. Name of nearest relative is blank, only the word Wife was written. 341 Latone, F??o, given name letters unclear, looks like Fsco or Fsio, no similar name found. 342 Loci??a, surname letters unclear, looks like Loceoha, but maybe Locedia, Locelia, or Locetia. Though there is no h in Italian, but this letter t is not crossed, nor does it have a loop of an l, nor is the hump of the h close to the line, nor doess it look like the d, as all the others of these letters are on this page. 343 Carone, D?o, maybe Deo, but looks like Dco, no similar name found. 344 Ventrella, given name of wife is written as one word. 345 Rosa, given name letters of relative, Gioe?ta are unclear looks like Gioemta but maybe Giocinta or Gioenita, none similar found. 347 Rosi, Address, Li??sano, passenger address looks like Linsano, but address of relative looks like Linosano, none found. Destination, Niagra Falls is written over darker, maybe to correct spelling. 348 Canta??o, letters unclear, there is a break between these letters in the script, looks like Canta? ?o, with a space inbetween the unknown letters . Surname maybe Cantarero or Cantavero. F??o, ??,age was written over, first digit maybe 2 or 4, second is very unclear, maybe 6, 9 or? Over page line number, 24, is stamped ADMITTED, possibly meaning they were detained. It looks like several checks or a number is written there also, but it is not readable. Between given names and ages a bracket connects 348 with 349, and maybe 350. Above given name of 349 is Bro., for brother. City or town of origin for passenger and relative is Rose, relatives name is Luisa. Destination city is difficult to read, and was written over in thick dark script, and may have been changed. 349 Canta??o, surname is ditto from above, letters unclear, there is a break between these letters in the script, looks like Canta? ?o. Surname maybe Cantarero or Cantavero. Over page line number, 24, is Stamped ADMITTED, possibly meaning they were detained. It looks like several checks or a number is written there also, but it is not readable. Between given names and ages a bracket connects 348 with 349, and maybe 350. Above given name of 349 is Bro. for brother. Town or city of origin is Rose. Relative column has ditto marks for ditto from passenger above. Since this passenger is listed as single and the relative of 348 is written as wife, she may be the mother of this passenger. But without a clear identifier, she was not listed as such in the surname listing. 350 Percocciante, Between given names and ages, with a bracket seems to connect 348, 349 and maybe 350. Above given name of 349 is Bro., for brother, but no words are written above 350. Town or city of origin is Rose. Destination, letters unclear, Coseo? looks like Coseot but maybe Coseob, or Coslot. 351 Urso, given name column has two names, rare for manuscripts, it looks like Venanzio or Venangio, nothing similar found. Relatives given name, first a in Rosana is written over, as if to clarify, but makes it less clear. Destination has ditto marks from 350. 352 Ferrara, a bracket is between given names and ages connecting page line number 28, 29, 30. Above given name of passenger 353 is wife, above given name of 354 is child. City or town of origin looks like Sallrno, but maybe Sallerno. Nearest Relative is written as No one. 353 Ferrara, Surname column has ditto marks. Age looks like 20, the 0 is quite smaller than most others on this page. a bracket is between given names ages connecting page line number 28, 29, 30 above given name of passenger 353 is wife, above given name of 354 is child. Town of origin to destination are written as do for ditto from 352. 354 Ferrara, Surname column has ditto mark. a bracket is between given names ages connecting page line number 28, 29, 30 above given name of passenger 353 is wife, above given name of 354 is child. In the country of origin column is written the word Rech, and numbers, 4, a diagonal line, 4, a diagonal line and 39. These may not refer to this passenger but maybe a notation for other or all passengers on this page.
