Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy, letters are too small, written over or elaborate writing. This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on 4 April. Page number, 22 is stamped on the top of the given name column. Stamped on the bottom of the same column is the number 20. The writing on this page is very light and often difficult to read. Recorders, often used the word do or ditto for able to read; as all here are for columns from nationality, race and country of origin. These are from the first line Passenger 295, who was put on page 10 with a probable relative, with identical data. Most passengers also have dittos in columns able to read and write, occupation, passenger and nearest relative residences, and destinations. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the information referred to. On the manuscript, the Occupations, Labourer is the British spelling for Laborer; and Farm Lab. was written for Farm Laborer. Passengers 301, 311, and 318 are lined out. This usually means that this passenger was not on this ship. They do not have a check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final Destination as all other passengers do. Of 30 passengers, 27 made this passage. The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w, x, or y. The letter h is only used with ch or gh. The passenger listing above is only one page of this manifest. Both may be seen on the Ellis Island Web Site. Sources: Names, Italian English Dictionary, David McKay Co, Philadelphia, 1943. Cities: Encyclopedia Britannica Atlas, Chicago, 1947 and Rand McNally and Co. Atlas, 1978. 296 to 297 Volpe, have brackets before destination and both ages. Before their ages ch is written, indicating father and child. 297 Volpe, Antonio, surname and relative was written as do or ditto from 296, relative maybe Mother, not Wife Maddalena. 298 Ba?aro, letter of surname is unclear looks like Bavaro or maybe Bariaro. Given name column has both Vito and Sebino, the latter maybe a middle name. 299 De Francisco, Michelangiolo, copy is poor. The fourth letter from the end has a dot above, and an o after that, and maybe a misspelling of Michelangelo. Over page line number, 5, are numbers 135 a dash, next number is unclear, maybe a 27 or 22. Below that is a 3, a dash, 16 a dash, and a 20. Next to the surname are other markings, looks like one number over another, like a fraction, but they are unclear, maybe a 2 over a 2 or 7, and below that the number 08. These may or may not be connected to this passenger. 301 ??, Vincenzo, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines except for what is stated. The few clear letters of surname are at the end, ia, Gender is unclear, but obviously male. Marital status, also unclear, looks like it maybe M for married. From columns able to read and write to Race have ditto marks from first passenger on page. Address written above line, looks like Ain but maybe Acri. Ca??z? maybe Cosenza, it looks the same as passenger 308. Rest of columns have dittos from previous passengers or written above the lines. 302 Renzi, F??o, given name of Mother, looks like Fsia, but maybe Fsca, no similar name found, maybe a nickname or an abbreviation. Her maiden name Ma?cuccilli, looks like it maybe Mascuccelli. 303 Di Li?ta, letter is unclear, surname maybe Di Lirta or Di Lista. Last address maybe Castrocielo or Castrosilo. 304 Caputo, age ?2, first digit is light and unclear maybe 22 or 72. Occupation is definitely written as Seamstress, for unknown reasons, other male passengers were listed as Tailor. Final Destination was N Y, and N J and Hoboken was written over it in a heavier and different hand writing. 305 Pagnotta, Occupation is definatly written as Seamstress, for unknown reasons, other male passengers were listed as Tailor. Relatives name, F??o looks like Fsio or Fsco. No similar name found, maybe a nickname or an abbreviation. Final Destination was N Y, but N J and Hoboken was written over it in a heavier and different hand writing. 306 Stiratelli, to 307 have brackets before destination and both ages. Written before age of 307 is Wife. Given name looks like it may end in a, for Nicola, but a male would be Nicolo. Occupation is definitely written as Seamstress, for unknown reasons, other male passengers were listed as Tailor. Relatives name was written as ditto from 305, looks like Fsio or Fsco. No similar name found, maybe a nickname or an abbreviation. Final Destination, N J Hoboken has a ditto from passenger 305. 307 Stiratelli, and 306 have brackets before desitnation and both ages, written before age of 307 is Wife. Surname was written as ditto from 306. Columns from able to read to final destination have dittos from passenger 307 and before. Relatives name, F??o looks like Fsio or Fsco. No similar name found, maybe a nickname or an abbreviation. 308 Vitiritti, marital status looks like an S for single, yet nearst relative is wife, Angela. a check mark in this column from passenger below blocks a good view of this letter. 309 Madia, There are numbers above the occupation to nationality columns, J1 a dash, then 184523, a dash, and then like a date, 11, a slanted line, 29 a slanted line, then a 37. 310 Iauncizri, surname letters are unclear, and maybe Ianncizri. The first letter was boldly printed over, probably to clarify it. Over the line number the word ADMITTED is stamped and what looks like S E, S I, or S 5 is boldly written before the line number. This could mean passenger was held for the Board of Special Inquiry Hearing and released. Final destination is written as Iua Oolitio, most likely poor handwriting or spelling for Iowa, Juliet. 311 Lo???, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the lines, except for what is stated. Surname looks like Lolito. Age maybe 48 Male. Occupation and able to read and write columns are not clear, looks like something other than dittos from 310, maybe written. Rest of columns have dittos or information is written above the lines. 312 Garofelo, Surname has a G written in a different handwriting between line number and surname, probably to clarify the letter. Given name, F??o, looks like Fsco but maybe Fsio, no similar name found, it maybe a nickname or an abbreviation. 314 ?i?ereli, Surname letters look like a series of mini bumps, maybe Minereli or Nimereli. Given name of passenger and nearest relative, F??o, looks like Fsco but maybe Fsio, no similar name found, maybe a nickname or an abbreviation. Age is written over boldly, it looks like 17 and under that may have been 19 or a poorly written 17. 317 Pe?ta, letter in surname unclear, maybe Pelta or Petta. Second digit of age is unclear, and was boldly written over, maybe 22, 23, 27, or 29 and is hard to make out. Address of passenger and relative, Acqua??a, is unclear, looks like Acquanina, Acquavina, or Acguanina, Acguavina. Nothing like any of these found in atlas. 318 Mirco, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is hard to read, covered by the line except for what is stated. Rest of columns have dittos from previous passengers, or written above the lines. There is no bracket before age or destination column for 318 to 319, usually indicating a relationship. However, it is possible, since Antonio is listed as the nearest relative of this passenger and is the given name of the next. Also both are close in age and the data in most columns are the same. Address of passenger and relative was written as ditto from 317, Acqua??a, is unclear, looks like Acquanina, Acquavina, or Acguanina, Acguavina. Nothing like any of these found in atlas. 319 Mirco, there is no bracket before age or destination of 318 to 319, indicating a relationship. However, it is possible since Antonio is listed as the nearest relative of this passenger and is the given name of the next. Also both are close in age and the data in most columns are the same. Address of passenger and relative was written as ditto from 317, Acqua??a, is unclear, looks like Acquanina, Acquavina, or Acguanina, Acguavina. Nothing like any of these found in atlas. 320 Rodi, Address of passenger and relative was written as ditto from 317, Acqua??a, is unclear, looks like Acquanina, Acquavina, or Acguanina, Acguavina. Nothing like any of these found in atlas. 322 Raimengie, last letter of surname looks like e, but maybe o, as Raimengio Nearest relative shown only as Mother, no given name was written in for her.
