Transcriber Notes:
* Is for error by the original recorder(s) or to note other
information on the copy, added to the transcriber's notes.
? Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy,
letters are too small, written over or elaborate writing.
This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April,
Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on 4 April.
Passengers 213, 218, 228, and 237 are crossed out and have
no check. This usually means that this passenger was not on
this ship. All other passengers have checks before their
surname, between age and gender, and by Final Destination.
Recorders used the word do, or ditto, to repeat information
from a line above, unless otherwise noted, for columns from
Able to Read and Write to Final Destination. Transcriber has
replaced the dittos with said information on the list. Farm
lab in occupation column most likely is farm laborer, to
differentiate from those general laborers.
The passenger listing above is only one page of this manifest.
Both pages can be seen on the Ellis Island Web Site.
The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w. The letter h
is only used with ch or gh.

like it might be 27 or 29, gender maybe M for male and M
for Married, but line is too thick to tell. Part of

as ditto from 216, words are light and unclear, looks like

written before the line number, ?66542, the ? maybe a
number covered by a dark vertical line. Underneath is the
way we write a date, 11, a vertical line, a 4 or 11, a
vertical line, next numbers are blurry and look written
over. Other numbers are where surname would be is 285419 a
dash then numbers as a date, a 6, a line , a 6, a line,

slightly below the passenger line. Given name of wife is

usually means they did not board this ship. Most is
difficult to read, except what is stated. Given name looks
like Nicolo, Columns from occupation to country of origin
have ditto marks. Next columns are above line, or written
in bold ink and are somewhat readable. Passengers residence
looks longer, like Bain or Biam then unreadable, but above
it is written Bitanto or Bitarto. Relatives residence seems
a little more clear, maybe Bitanto, but not sure.

is. Passenger 225 and 226 have a bracket after given names,
which may include passenger 227. Looks like wife is written
above Concetta, 226.

names and may include 227. Looks like wife is written above
Concetta. Columns from able to read and write to destination

and may include 232. Looks like one bracket was for 229 to
231, and another over it to include 232. Between the surnames
of 229 and 230 are numbers. First maybe a check or a v then a
3, a dash, then 2692, and numbers as we write a date, an 11,
another vertical line, a 7, a vertical line and a 41.
230 Carsano, G??????? given name is unclear, and written over in
bold ink. One writing begin Gral??, another ends with ini,
but unable to make out any letters. Before this name is what
looks like a small l, and two tall pointed letters, an M or
tt but neither looks crossed. Found nothing similar. After
given names is a bracket, connecting 229, 230, 231 and maybe
232. Looks like one bracket was for 229 to 231, and another
that includes 232. Between surnames of 229 and 230 are
numbers. First maybe a check or a v then a 3, a dash, then

looks like Terlizri. Found Terlizzi in Atlas. Destination only
indicated as NY city, with ditto for state of NY.
233 b??cali?, Ma??a?, passenger is crossed out by a thick line.
This usually means they did not board this ship. Most is
difficult to read, except what is stated. Line is thick over
surname and given name, seems to thin and lighten from age
column on. Surname maybe Brucoli? or Bruali?, looks like
there is another letter or two after the i. Given name,
looks like Matina, seems to be a tall crossed letter, but
may be Maria. Destination, Col????, has no state but line
above has NY. Town looks like Coluan or Colenan. Only town
close is Colton, NY, but that may not be right.
