Transcriber's Notes:
* is for error by the original recorder(s) or to note other information on the copy, added to
the transcriber's notes.
? Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy, letters are too small, written
over or elaborate writing.
On the top corner of first three names on the list is written, crew, each is listed as
sailing from Hamburg, which may or may not be so, as the ship line is out of Hamburg.
This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo
on 4 April.
Recorders used the word do, or ditto, to repeat information from a line above for passengers
17 to 22 in Nationality and Race. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the information
referred to.
Passengers 1 to 3 are the only names on that page, numbered 32 at the top and bottom, stated
from Hamburg. The rest departed from Genoa. Passenger 4 is the sole passenger on this page,
numbered 18 at the top, passenger 5 to 15 are only names on that page numbered 31 at the
bottom, passengers 16 to 25 are the only names on that page, numbered 32 at the top.
Transcriber can not identify what numbers mean that are written in various columns on this
manuscript page.
The passenger listing above is one of several pages of this manifest. They may be seen on the
Ellis Island Web Site.
The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w. The letter h is only used with ch or gh.

line, 28 a diagonal line, 3?, the second digit may be a 3 or 5, as 33 or 35. These numbers
are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is
a naturalization district number, the second set is either an application number or the

of the manuscript is very light, looks like Davio or Danio.
9 Roberts, copy is light, added writing seems by a different hand than the original recorder.
Manuscript shows given name as initial M, above is written Mary. Wales is written above Race,
English. Numbers written above surname, 158051 and after given name, 2 . 13 . 26, but dots

misspelled, atlas shows it as Lennoxville. At end of each line, 13 and 14, is stamped Non IMM
for Non Immigrant.
15 Reynolds, just before surname something is scratched out, looks like Wei? Diagonal line
through gender, hiding f for female. Last Address, South Africa is written above England,
Durban. Final Destination, letters unclear, looks like ?armony, first letter written over,
may be Harmony. This passenger is the last passenger of 11 on the page.

verification form, used to transmit manifest information to the requesting INS office,
indicating a verification or record check. Last set of numbers maybe the year and date the
person applied, or since it is after the 505 number, it maybe the date the verification of
when the INS check was done.
23 Catterello, second word of town letters small, looks like Canavori, but may be Cananoi or
Canonsi.
24 Porc?, letter or letters unclear, looks like a u or n, maybe Porcu or Porcie, unlikely to be
Porcn. Destination columns have writing over notations, too light to read, but looks like
something Windsor, can not read first word. Words do or ditto from line above are darker,
clear for N Y New York.
