* An asterisk is used to call attention to additional information in the Notes
  on Passsenger Entries.

? A question mark is used to indicate illegible letters or words.

^ Indicates that superscript was used for the subsequent letter or letters.

Names were transcribed as written insofar as possible, without regard to obvious
spelling errors; the following passenger notes include the transcriber's comments
about spelling.

The numbering of passengers corresponds to the actual numbers written on the list
before it was microfilmed.

No deaths or births during the voyage are recorded on this passenger list.

K Wurt and K Baier are abbreviations for the Kingdom of Wurttemberg and the Kingdom
of Bavaria, respectively; there is an umlaut over the "u" in Wurt. After passenger
#19, these terms no longer are added followng the town's name. Even though the
transcriber believes that most of the other towns are in Bavaria, he does not think
the ditto marks on the original list should be read as repeating "K. Baier" for
other passengers.

Notes on Passenger Entries (Refer to the numbers above)

#1 - The transcriber found no Oberstaetten in Germany; there are three towns
          named Oberstetten in Wurttemberg.
 #3,#5 -  Surname (Feuerlein) was apparently abbreviated as shown above;
          Schristian probably is Christian
#6 - Gunzenbach is located in Lower Franconia, near several of the other
towns listed on this list (Mombris, Rappach, Reichenbach)
#14 - Schristina is probably Christina
#15 - Hoerstein probably is Horstein, "o" with umlaut (in Lower Franconia,
          north of Aschaffenburg)
#20 - Winzenhohl is a village just east of Aschaffenburg
#24 - Rabach is probably Rappach (in Lower Franconia north of Aschaffenburg)
#29 - Occupation is probably also Contrymann (Countryman or Farmer), but no
ditto marks appear by this entry in the Occupation column.
#38 - Steinbach is a common town name; one is just west of Johannesberg.
#41 - The town Mombris has an umlaut over the "o"; this town is in the same
area as the other Bavarian towns on this list north of Aschaffenburg.
#48 - First name might instead be Allerich.
#49 - Schnepfenbach probably is really Schneppenbach (in the same area as
the other Bavarian hometowns on this list). However, there is also a
"Schnepfenbach" about 10 miles northeast of Wurzburg.
#57 - The first letter of the surname has been written over with a very thick
"T"; however, the transcriber believes that letter could have been an
"F" so that surname is Faeths. What appears to be "Wit" following
"Paul Taeths" is probably an abbreviation for the German word "Witwer"
meaning widower. "Hoesbach is probably Hosbach, "o" with umlaut
          (located east of Aschaffenburg).
#58-69 - The person who prepared this list used ditto marks in the Occupation
column for all these passenger, with with the result that several
women and children are erroneously referred to as "Contrymann."
#67 - Surname shows an umlaut over the "u", and probably should have a "t"
after the "d". Rabbach = Rappach (same town as for passengers 24-31).
#69 - Schoellknippen is probably Schollkrippen, "o" with umlaut (a town near
Krombach, also just north of Aschaffenburg).
#70 - Hometown is most likely the Eisenach in Thuringia; however, it could
be Eisenbach, a village in Bavaria about 20 miles south of Aschaffenburg.
#71 - There is a Geisenbach in Hessen about 10 miles north of Heidelberg; the
transcriber believes this town is actually Geiselbach, just north of
          Krombach (see passenger #74).
#72 - Kahl is another village near Schollkrippen.
#73 - There are several towns named Reichenbach in Germany; one is located
in the same area as the other Bavarian hometowns on this list (between
Mombris and Johannesberg) and is likely the correct one.
#74 - Krummbach is probably Krombach (in the area north of Aschaffenburg)
#75 - Baggage column for this passenger is difficult to read; it is perhaps:
          1 Chest, 3 cots, 4 Clothing.
#75-77 - Oberbillinghausen and Kirschspiel (which may actually be Kirchspiel)
are likely in northern Germany, rather than in Bavaria. Bierlingen is
in Wurttemberg, about 20 miles from one of the towns named Oberstetten.
#78 - There is an umlaut over the "o" in Cochler; same town as for #20.
#79-80 - Schnepfenbach is probably Schneppenbach, same town as for #49.

Special Note about Hometowns of Trojan Passengers:

The vast majority of passengers on the Trojan, almost 90%, seem to have been
from villages in the area north or east of Aschaffenburg. Much of this area
is sometimes referred to as the Kahlgrund, that is, the ground drained by the
Kahl River. The villages represented are: Gunzenbach, Horstein, Winzenhohl,
Rappach, Johannesberg, Steinbach, Mombris, Schneppenbach, Goldbach, Hosbach,
Schollkrippen, Kahl, Geiselbach, Reichenbach, and Krombach. As previously noted,
Horstein, Mombris, Hosbach and Schollkrippen all have an umlaut over the "o".
