Schooner Tigris
I, Delaney Faulkner, Master of the Br Schr Tigris, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Schr at Demerara, from which Port the said Schr has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.
So help me God. (Signature) D. T. Faulkner.
Sworn to this 16th April 1868,
Before me. (Signature) W M C?????y, D.C..
List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Br Schr Tigris whereof Faulkner is Master, from Demerara, burthen 162 Br tons.
Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country in which they intend to become inhabitants, and the part of the vessel occupied during the voyage. Since no one died during the voyage, this column is omitted in the transcription.
1* Alexander Deveaux 40 Male Tradesman France U. States Cabin Transcriber's Notes: A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed definitely. An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer. A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted. The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not numbered in the original manifest. The designation "Br Schr Tigris" in the Captain's sworn statement at the beginning of the manifest likely implies that the Schooner Tigris is of British ownership or registry. 1 Surname is either "Deveaux" or "Dereaux".
