Transcriber's Notes:
? = Approximate number of letters that are unreadable due to fading, smears,
torn paper etc.
* = Attention to this Transcribers List.
^ = The following letter is superscripted
This ship was found in Reel M425 which is a listing of ships arriving in Philadelphia,
but manifest says it arrived in New York.
The Manifest and a cover page both list the date as Aug 3, 1870. But on the Passenger
list after #37 was clearly written, "August 2, 1871"
The tonnage was very hard to read. This is the best estimate.
The Deputy Collector's signature is almost just a scribble. Very hard to read.
The Column 'Died on Voyage' was left blank.
The Column 'Sex' was left blank
In the Occupation column, a family was listed as 'Family' after one of the children.
Any blank in the columns was that way on the original.
In the last three columns from passenger # 37 onward is written "S.S. Stadacona,
August 2, 1871, British, Londonderry, Ireland." From here to the end of the list
there was no info as to 'Country' or 'Compartment'.
8 & 9 - Last name could possibly be 'Slavin'
22 & 23 - There was a fold in the paper which was taped. Everything is black
34 - There is a black smear over the first name. The 'A.' is a middle initial.
48 & 49 - There was a fold in the paper which was taped. First name is only a black
smear.
58 & 59 - There was a fold in the paper which was taped. Everything is black.
60 & 61 - First name is readable, but last name is ditto marks from the un-readable
names above.
70 & 71 - Name could possibly be Lawin.
83 & 84 - There was a fold in the paper which was taped. Nearly everything was black.
