1 D Buenaventnea Alayo 23 Male Machineist Cuba Cuba Cabin Transcriber's Notes: * The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder; or a clarification by the transcriber. ? The use of a ? indicates a letter that could not be read, due to the quality of the original document. * Collector of Customs: (in the sworn statement) Name is essentially undecipherable. It may begin with an "M" and may end with the subscripted abbreviation: DC which probably stands for Deputy Collector. Although clearly written as Rorgue Alayo on the manifest, the name of the vessel is probably Rogue Alayo. In the manifest the Captain only wrote Scho not the whole word. It is not an oversite of the transcriber.
