Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that cannot be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not
numbered in the original manifest.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing the first few
letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter as
superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^) to indicate that
the following letter is superscripted, i.e., Tho^s for Thomas, Sam^l for Samuel,
W^m for William, etc. Othertimes, the recorder abbreviates names by writing the
first few letters, skipping letters and then adding the final letter of the name,
i.e., Patk for Patrick, Chas for Charles, Robt for Robert, etc..
The entry "United States" in the native country and destination country columns
is shortened to "U. States" for formatting reasons. "Male" and "Female" in the
Sex column is shortened to "M" and "F" for the same reason.
277-278 Surname appears to be either "Monteligro" or "Montetigro".
320 Surname is recorded as "Nealey", But might possibly be "Nealy".
332 Passenger has the feminine given name "Jane", yet Sex is recorded as "Male"
and Occupation listed as "Miner", possibly a recording error.
350 Surname is recorded as "McGurin" or "McGunn", but might possibly be "McGurrin".
351 Surname appears to be written as "Brown" or "Brower".
354 Passenger's Occupation is recorded as "Miner", yet Age is "4y9m", likely
a recording error.
356 Passenger's Occupation is recorded as "Miner", yet Age is "10", likely
a recording error.
368 Surname is either "Rull" or "Rule".
403-404 Surname appears to be written as "Town", "Tonn" or "Toun".
405 The copy of the manifest is blurred and the surname cannot be deciphered
with certainty. Name appears to begin with "Jo" followed by "n" or "u"
followed by an unreadable letter followed by "o" or "s". Name is possibly
thought not certainly "Jones".
411 Passenger's title is recorded as "Mrs" implying a married woman, yet Age is
listed as "2 years", likely a recording error.
417 Surname appears to be written as "Stanner" or "Skinner".
418 Surname appears to be either "Frisbie" or "Fristie".
422 Surname is possibly "Bouns", "Bowns" or "Brown".
433-437 Family surname is recorded as both "Finagan" and "Finegan", but might
possibly be "Finnegan".
439 Surname appears to be written as "Wallans" or "Wattans, but might possibly
be "Wallace".
448-451 Family surname is possibly "Holter", "Hotter", "Hottie" or "Hottee".
454 Surname is recorded as "Bradly", but might possibly be "Bradley".
460 Surname is either "Osburne" or "Osbune".
463-466 Occupation is recorded as "Plumer", likely intending "Plumber".
489 Surname appears to be written as "Porctor", but might possibly be "Proctor".
496 Third letter of surname is blurred and cannot be deciphered with certainty,
but name is possibly "Geaxa", "Gexa" or "Gewxa".
498 Surname is recorded as "Gallager", but might possibly be "Gallagher".
499 Surname is recorded as "Marow", but might possibly be "Morrow" or "Marrow".
506 Surname is recorded as "Rowin" or "Rowen", but might possibly be "Rowan".
516 Surname is possibly "Haman", "Harnan", "Hannon" or "Hammond".
