Transcriber's Notes:

There is no sworn statement on this list--only a listing by yearly quarters
of passengers arriving in the port of New Orleans.

A question mark indicates indecipherable material.
An asterisk indicates a footnote in the Passenger Notes.
A caret (^) indicates superscript.

I don't know why the ship is listed as the President Smidt on the NARA records
when the New Orleans list calls it the President Schmidt (which would make more
sense to me).

1 Surname may be Bas or Bass.
2 Surname may be Hoffus, Hoffa or Hoffer.
4 Surname looks like it may be Grigg or Frigg.
7 Surname may be Speis or Spies.
11 Surname looks like Kuhan or Kuhau.
12 Surname may be either Vesper or Fesper.
13 Surname looks like Fingerfuchs or Gingerfuchs.
19-22 Surname looks like Matha; however, the final letter may be a "d" because
it is similar to the "d" used by the same writer for the final letter of
United as in United States, so surname may be Mathd.
