SS Oder
I, Richard Sander, Master of the German S.S. Oder do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said S.S. Oder at Bremen & Southampton from which port said S.S. Oder has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates and names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country.
Sworn to, this Dec 30, 1884

Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark indicates material which is indecipherable.
An asterisk indicates further information in the passenger notes.
A caret indicates that the following letters were written in superscript.
Spellings are transcribed as found in the original,i.e. fermer--most likely
farmer.
Passenger accomodations in the list are entered as I Cabin, II Cabin, I, II,
or III Compt. (compartment), but at the end of the list it is divided into
passengers in Cabin I or II and steerage.
The writer of this list uses ditto marks, though these may not be
appropriate in the column where "work Sojourn" is listed for children or infants.
7 Surname may be Fatis.
20 Surname may be Carr, but the second letter is not closed at the top
so it looks more like a "u."
23-24 Surname has an umlauted "o" so may be Schroeder.
26 Damage to original has obliterated the final letters of the place of origin--most
likely it should read Freudenstadt.
30 Place of origin looks like it may be Holzhausen.
34 Surname may be Bohorwra.
39 Place of origin is probably Cologne.
42 Surname looks like it may be either Blom or Blome.
60 Surname may be either Muth or Kuth.
65-68 Surname has an umlauted "o" so may be Schroeder.
74-75 Surname may have an umlauted "u" so may be Tuelberg.
77 Surname may have an umlauted "u" so may be Mueller.
79 Surname has an umlauted "a" so may be Haendel.
90 Surname must be von Gerichten.
92 Surname has an umlauted "o" so may be Boehmler.
99-100 Origin may be Oesterreich, i.e. Austria.
102 Second letter of surname unclear; may be either umlauted u or o;
thus the name would be either Rosser or Russer (i.e. Roesser or Ruesser).
117 Note says: born on board 22 Decbr, died 30th Decbr. of weakness. Must be
the son of passenger 34.
