Transcriber's Notes:

* A * is used to call your attention to additional information in the Transcriber's Notes.
* A ? indicates letters or words that cannot be read due to the quality of the original document,
and is clarified in the Transcriber's Notes.
* In upper right corner of first page is a decorative shield with the following: "R.J. Godwin,
Customs House Broker, (unreadable), No 18 Pine St., New York".
* The City of Manchester was part of the Inman Line (British), built 1851, wrecked 1876.
* Occupation of Spin^st is Spinster.
* Location on ship column: It appears that the manifest writer meant that all those not in
Cabin were 'Main Steerage between decks'. Though this was written on two lines, it is written
the same on the top of two pages.

1- 2 Surname appears to say 'Burrispl'. See notes on Location on Ship in the Transcriber's Notes.
16 Possibly two initials, ? G. Written with a full upstroke, full downstroke, half upstroke,
longish line to right, upstroke through top half, rightward stroke, down a half stroke,
        ending with a curl.
45- 46 See notes on Location on Ship in the Transcriber's Notes.
53 First letter unclear, possibly Gomer.
75 End of page is torn so that occupation has no marks or letters or portions thereof shown.
84 Occupation appears to say 'Slerk'.
91 All missing letters are midline; appears to say Sseuassy.
107-108 See notes on Location on Ship in the Transcriber's Notes.
130 This is an initial which appears to be an angular letter on its side; possibly E,
        N, W, or M.
133 The letters of the long first name are hard to read; missing letter is midline,
        possibly r or n.
