Steamer Lodova *

I, H R Hovey, Master of the Am Stmr Lodova, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Stmr at Havana, from which Port the said Stmr has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Stmr Lodova whereof Hovey is Master, Havana, burthen (blank) tons.

Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country in which they intend to become inhabitants, the part of the vessel occupied during the voyage, and whether the passenger had entered the United States previously. Since no one died during the voyage, this column is omitted in the transcription.

  A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed 
  definitely.

  An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the 
  manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.

  A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.

* The ship's name is not carefully written and cannot be deciphered with certainty, 
  but name is possibly "Ladona", "Ladova", "Lodona" or "Lodova".

  The designation "Am Stmr Lodova" in the Captain's sworn statement at the 
  beginning of the manifest likely implies that the Steamer Lodova is of
  American ownership or registry.

  3-6   Occupation is recorded but unreadable. The first letter of the Occupation
        appears to be "M", but the remaining letters are not decipherable.
  7-10  Surname appears to be "Farder" or "Fander".  The given names of the wife 
        and two children are not recorded.
  11    Surname appears to be "Fander", "Fauder" or "Farder".
