condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
The list scrolls to the right to show last column, suitcases/trunks.
The list does not name infants in arms (sucklings), but it does use a line entry saying
Saugling (suckling/baby). Presumably the entry means the baby belongs to the people in
the entry before it.
Some translations:
Baiern = Bavaria
Bohmen = Bohemia
Cansa = perhaps Kansas
Hessen = Hessia
Oesterreich = Austria
Preussen = Prussia
Sachsen = Saxony
Saugling = baby, suckling, babe in arms (also spelled Succlings at end of list)
The captain's name looks like G. H. Thieman in the entry at the end of the list;
however, in the sworn statement it looks like F. H. Thieman or possibly Thiemann
22 Surname has an umlauted "o" thus Doppel or Doeppel
44-45 Surname is spelled as Noel.
57 Age is listed as 3-1/2, changed to 3y6m by formatter.
67-71 Note in occupation column says: going to her family.
77-78 Surname has an umlauted "u" thus Junemann or Juenemann.
84 Surname has an umlauted "u" thus Hundsdorfer or Hundsdoerfer.
85 Tear in list has obliterated the last portion of the entry but it
looks like it may be either Hamburg or Hannover.
86 Difficult to determine whether the 3rd and 4th letters are "s" or "f".
Name looks like it may be Jaffa or Jassa. Surname also may be Hirsch.
95 Surname has an umlauted "o" thus Doring or Doering.
100 The number for this entry is preceded by a large "X" and then four
more of them following the name. There is no explanation in the list
for these "Xs" In some lists it indicates the death of the passenger;
however, here there is no such indication.
102 Middle name is listed as Elise.
104 Surname has an umlauted "o" thus Mohlmann or Moehlmann.
106 Surname has an umlauted "u" thus Muller or Mueller.
115-118 Surname may be Jausky.
122 Surname has an umlauted "u" thus Junger or Juenger.
128 Surname may be Dusek.
148 There is an "x" following the entry of the name--no explanation for
it in the list.
156-157 Surname may be Dusek.
186 Luggage is listed as 1 Coffer (Koffer = suitcase) and 1 basket.
