Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that cannot be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not
numbered in the original manifest.
The entry "United States" in the native country and destination country columns
is shortened to "U. States" for formatting reasons. "Male" and "Female" in the
Sex column is shortened to "M" and "F" for the same reason.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing the first few
letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter as
superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^) to indicate that
the following letter was superscripted, i.e., Pat^k for Patrick, Mich^l for Michael,
etc.
The recorder routinely substitutes "Mc" for "Mac" in the surnames of the Irish
passengers.
1 Surname is recorded as "Develin", but might possibly be "Devlin".
5-6 Surname appears to be written as "Wheattey", but might possibly be "Wheatley".
7-8 Surname is recorded as "Whealan", but might possibly be "Whelan".
12-18 Surname is recorded as McCanly", but might possibly be "McCanley".
20 Surname is recorded as "Healey", but might possibly be "Healy".
21-22 Surname is possibly "Roek" or "Rock".
23 Surname is possibly "Raddigon", "Roddigon", "Raddigor" or "Roddigor".
28 Surname appears to be either "Grecham" or "Greaham" or possibly "Graham".
29 Surname is recorded as "Touhey", but might possibly be "Touhy".
32 Surname appears to be written as "Severy" or "Seveny", but might possibly
be "Devery" or "Deveny".
33 Surname is possibly "Renwy", "Renny", "Renney" or "Rennie".
37 Surname is recorded as "Berne", but might possibly be "Byrne".
44 Surname is recorded as "Whealan", but might possibly be "Whelan".
45-46 Surname is recorded as "Touhey", but might possibly be "Touhy".
47-50 Surname is recorded as "McGream", but might possibly be "McGrean",
"McGreen" or "McGreene".
