I, Robert D. Munro, Master of the Steamship "Hibernia", do
solemnly, sincerely, and truly affirm that the following List or Manifest,
subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of
the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the
Passengers taken on board the said S.S. "Hibernia" at Glasgow and Moville,
from which Ports the said Steamship has now arrived; and that on said List is
truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said
passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the
country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by
each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth
the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and

A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The recorder of the manifest sometimes abbreviates given names by writing the
first few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final
letter as superscripted. In these cases, the transcribers use the symbol (^) to
indicate that the following letter was superscripted, i.e., Bern^d for Bernard,
Cath^e for Catherine, Marg^t for Margaret, Mich^l for Michael, etc.
267-269 Surname is recorded as "Falan", but might possibly be "Fallon".
280-282 Surname begins with "T", but the other letters of the name are not
carefully formed and cannot be deciphered with certainty. The
surname is possibly "Trunaid", "Trunaul" or something similar.
