Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not numbered
in the original manifest.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing the first
few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter
as superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^) to indicate
that the following letter is superscripted, i.e., Tho^s for Thomas, Sam^l for Samuel,
W^m for William, etc. Othertimes, the recorder abbreviates names by writing the
first few letters, skipping letters and then adding the final letter of the name,
i.e., Saml for Samuel, Margt for Margaret, Thos for Thomas, etc. Sometimes the
recorder uses popular abbreviations for given name such as "Hy" for Henry,
"My" for Mary, "Jno" for John, "Geo" for George and "Jas" for James.
4 ? could be 'u' making the name Bustock; there is a small likelihood that the
first letter is a D (Dustock).
5 ???? could be 'ames' making the name Wanlames.
10-13 First letter of the last name could be 'R' making the name Rinberg.
14 ???? could be Sam^l .
43 ? could be 'i' making the name Cadoric but the assender from the name above
covers the letter.
75-76 ?? could be 'er' making the name Clerneuke.
101 ? could be one or two letters--illegible
104 Last name could be Gops.
105 Last name could be Dory.
110 Last name could be Beirger but not a strong alternative. The name looks
to be Burger.
126 Last name could be Kukins.
132-123 ? could be 'w' making the name Sagwa.
139 Last name could be Demdon.
158-159 Last name could be Luke.
160 ?? could be either 'xt' making the name Haxten or 'rd' making the name Harden.
176 Last name could be Ulhim.
187-188 ?? could be 'st' making the name Angst or 'el' making the name Angel.
