I, H.F. Schwensen, Master of the SS Hammonia, do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List of Manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said SS Hammonia at Hamburg/Havre from which port said Steamer has now arrived; and that on the said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of the said passengers, the location of the compartments or space of the said vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country of Citizenship of each; and the destination or location intended by each, and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who have died; also of the pieces of baggage of each ..... true statement so far as can be ascertained with reference to the ......., as to a protracted sojourn .......

original recorder, not the transcriber, or is used

the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined
due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted.
* Names were transcribed as seen regardless of spelling.
Danmark should probably be Denmark.
There was quite a bit of damage to the manifest. Missing information due to damage
is indicated by a series of dots. One dot does not represent one missing letter.
No deaths were recorded, therefore this coloumn was eliminated.
All passengers stated that their final destination was the United States, therefore
this coloumn was eliminated as well.
1: Meklbg. Schw. could be Mecklenburg-Schwering
4: Wilh. could stand for Wilhelm.
6-13: missing information due to damaged manifest
25: Joh. could stand for Johann.
31: ditto marks show that the age is 6 years and 6 months, occupation is baby.
This seems wrong, the age might be 6 months
32: ditto marks show that the age is 6 years and 5 months, occupation is baby.
This seems wrong, the age might be 5 months.
34: the last name, Doscher, is spelled with o Umlaut
38: Jul^s could stand for Julius.
41: W^m could stand for Wilhelm.
63: the last name, Dormann, is spelled with o Umlaut.
65: ditto marks show that this passenger is a female, son is very clearly
written in the occupation coloumn.
73: no gender given
88: the last name, Schonfeld, is spelled with o Umlaut
103 - 107: the last name, Fasler, is spelled with a Umlaut. The city of origin is
spelled with u Umlaut.
112: the city of origin is spelled with u Umlaut.
124: Fr. could stand for Fritz or Friedrich.
134: the last name, Grun, is spelled with u Umlaut.
139 - 142: Occupation cannot be read due to damaged manifest.
143 - 145: ditto marks show that these passengers have the same occupation as the
passenger above which cannot be read, see previous note.
155: Uchlbg probably is abbreviated Uchlberg.
156: only part of the occupation can be read due to a damaged manifest.
162 - 166: Wurtemberg is spelled with u Umlaut.
