Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not
numbered in the original manifest.
The manifest is in good condition and easily readable. However, the recorder's
handwriting is difficult to decipher because many letters are not carefully or
distinctly formed resulting in an uncertain transcription of names. Though done
with care, the resultant transcription is subject to errors and should be viewed
with some skepticism.
In the case of women traveling with their husbands, instead of entering the woman's
name, the recorder enters the husband's given name and surname, and he does not
preface the name with a "Mrs" to indicate that she is the wife. This must be
implied from the context and the recorded Sex of the passenger.
3 Given name is not clearly written and cannot be deciphered with certainty.
Passenger's name appears to be written as "Emelisa", but might possibly
be "Evelyn".
10 Occupation appears written as "Svt", perhaps an abbreviation for Servant.
24 Passenger's Occupation is recorded as "C H Officer", possibly implying
Customs House Officer.
34 First and middle name initials cannot be deciphered.
35 Surname appears to be either "Carrajal" or "Carvajal".
38 Given name and surname cannot be deciphered with certainty, but given name
is possibly "Frank". Surname appears to be either "Chawn" or "Charon".
40 Surname is recorded as "Flyn", but might actually be spelled "Flynn".
41 Surname is possibly "Sane", "Sans" or "Sanz".
42 Last two or three letters of surname cannot be deciphered.
44 Surname appears to be either "Zalbatin" or "Zalbotin".
45 Passenger's full name is recorded as "Prince Philip de Coburg".
53 Last two or three letters cannot be deciphered, but the last letter is
possibly "r".
54 Surname appears to be "Mart" or "Marti".
55 Passenger's name appears to be written as "Z. Arrahl", but might possibly
be "Z. A. Wahl".
58 Surname appears to be either "Bichot" or "Bichol".
65 Surname appears to be either "Simms" or "Timms".
66 Surname is possibly "Luiki" or "Kucki".
68 Last two letters of surname cannot be deciphered.
69 Surname is possibly "Lernann", "Lermann" or "Leimann".
