Transcriber's Notes:
* The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder;
or a clarification by the transcriber.
? The use of a ? indicates a letter that could not be read, due to the quality of
the original document.
* Collector of Customs: (in the sworn statement) Name is essentially undecipherable.
It may begin with an "M" and may end with the subscripted abbreviation: DC which
probably stands for Deputy Collector.
* Under the heading of the columns the first line of the manifest states that these
passengers were "taken on board at Trieste."
* All names are written surname first, no comma, and all given names are all
in lower case letters even the first letter.
3 Passenger is listed as a Prince from Russe. In French this means Russian.
Apparently, the transcriber listed nationality instead of country of origin
(Russia).
4 All there is written is the word Madame.
