Ship Devonshire

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, William B Moore Master of the Ship Devonshire do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by Me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York,is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Ship at London from which port said (omitted) has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

Columns represent: Name, Age, Sex, Occupation, The country to which they severally belong, The country to which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on the Voyage, and Part of the vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. The Destination for most passengers was U S A and any exception is noted in the Transcriber's Notes. One death was recorded on this voyage and is noted in the Transcriber's Notes. These two columns have been omitted.

^  The use of a ^ indicates that the letter/letters following are superscripted.

The transcription preserves the original spelling.

All ditto marks on the original manifest have been replaced with the actual words 
indicated.

The manifest did not include psgr #s; they have been added by the transcriber.

It is difficult to distinguish the manifest scribe's handwritten "L" and "S"; 
further research should be done to confirm findings.

Ship's burthen tonnage is 1149 91/95 or 1179 91/95.

 2  Destination was Italy.
 4  Occupation is probably Soldier.
 5  4th letter of first name not clear, could be Eugene or Eugune.
 6  First letters of first name illegible.
15  First letter of surname could be "L" or "S"; ending of surname is
    overwritten and illegible.
24-26  Last letter(s) of surname not clear, could be Feilds or Feilder.
27  2nd, 4th, 5th letters illegible, probably Mathilda.
38  Last letter of surname not clear, could be Gworett or Gworeth.
39  Occupation illegible because of handwriting.
42  This passenger died on the voyage, no other information was recorded.
