* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? A question mark indicates that a letter of a name cannot be read because of the
condition of the manifest, or the penmanship of the writer.
Passengers 632, 634, 649,705, 727, 741, 760.782, 790, 796, 815, 845, have a line
drawn across their name [perhaps indicating they died during the voyage].
656-660 could be Pasiberger
696, 697 could be Ies?en
762-764 could be Raltz
768 could be Both
815 is written Spalenka, could be Spaleuka; passengers 816-820, written on
the following page, appear to be of the same family but the name is
spelled Syaleuka.
825 could be Bendova
Correspondence added December 8, 2007 - passengers 815-820 Spalenka and 821-823 Adamova
Passenger 821, Marie Adamova, is my Great Grandmother, widow of Martin Adam,
from Neustupov, Bohemia.
Catha and Antonie are her daughters.
Passenger 816, Anna, is also her daughter, wife of Jan Spalenka, which is definitely
the correct spelling of the surname of passenger 815.
Passengers 817-820 are the childen of Anna and Jan Spalenka. This family settled in
Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Marie Adam(s) eventually brought all 6 of her children to
Stevens Point. She died there in 1901. Jan and Anna added a daughter, Julia, in 1883.
Jan Spalenka became a prominent building contractor in Stevens Point.
