Ship Charles Crooker, [captain] Moorehead, Havre 36ds., with mdse. and
181 passengers to [agents] C. C. Duncan & Co. Jan 1 lat 46 18 lon 11 58
spoke brig Carthagena from Gibraltar for London, short of provisions -
supplied her. The C.C. has been 8 ds. N of Natucket [sic] with strong
W winds, split sails. Had 1 death on the passage.

The ship was called Charles Crooker after a ship builder and
owner of Bath, Maine. From the 1857 New York Marine Register:
Charles Crooker, ship, 960 tons, [captain] Morehead, built 1849
Bath, Maine, owned Caldwell of Bath.

She apparently also carried immigrants to New Orleans.

A Google search returned CHARLES CROOKER: ship, lost
November 7, 1859, 40 miles north of Cape Florida (Key Biscayne).
