I, L Steicker, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Bark Caroline, whereof I am Master, from Bremen. So help me God, L Steicker

  1  Surname with umlaut.  Most transcribers saw this name, however other 
     transcribers also saw surname as Schieren or Schrewer.
 16  Surname is Beuter or Bueter.
 22  Surname has umlaut.
 57  Surname is Phorn or Thorn.
 60  Surname is Panebein, Ponebein, Tanebein or Tonebein.
 61  Occupation most likely is spelling variant of engineer.
 70  Most transcribers saw this name as Hug, but others read it as Snug.
 72  Transcribers asked saw this surname as be Homann, Hermann, Honass, Hamann, or 
     Homasons.  The writing is very tight and small.
 79  Surname also could be Hader.
 86  Location he is going to is undoubtedly Detroit, writer is consistent in listing 
     this without the 't'.
 87  Location he is going to is undoubtedly Detroit, writer is consistent in listing 
     this without the 't'.
 99  Most transcribers asked saw this as Mayd, but Mayo and Mays were also seen.
