SS Caracas
I, W.M. Hopkins Master of the American SS Caracas do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following list or manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at La Guaira, P/O Cabello, and C from which port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age in years and months, sex, calling, country of citizenship, native country, intended destination or location, number of pieces of baggage, location of compartment or space occupied and date and cause of death of passengers, as required by the Passenger Act of 1882; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country. (Passenger #10) I don´t know a lot about Karl VAHLBRUCH, but he is a brother of Johann Friedrich Theodor Otto VAHLBRUCH, *22.12.1842 in 31863 Coppenbrügge-Brünnighausen Father: Ernst Friedrich VAHLBRUCH (teacher) Mother: Auguste DRALLE +28.03.1896 in Hamburg Germany Both, Karl and Otto VAHLBRUCH where Chemists and both lived in Valencia, Venezuela. Karl as well Otto VAHLBRUCH belong to my family. Their father as well as my came from the village: Salzhemmendorf near Hameln, Niedersachsen (former Kingdom of Hannover). Otto VAHLBRUCH made a Testament which i have: "Ich, der unterzeichnete Johann Friedrich Theodor Otto Vahlbruch, finde mich veranlasst, mein Ende Mai 1886 in Valencia/Venezuela errichtetes Testament in allen seinen Bestimmungen hiermit wieder aufzuheben und in aller Form Rechtens zu cassieren. Anstelle dessen verfüge ich in dem nachstehenden, in Hamburg, meinem jeztigen Domicil, nach hamburgischen Rechtsnormen errichteten Testamente, was folgt: §1 Ich schicke voraus, daß ich, da ich unverheiratet bin, auch meine Eltern verstorben sind und meine nächsten Verwandten, ein Bruder Karl Vahlbruch in Valencia, Venezuela und zwei Schwestern Bernhardine Lamo Wwe. und Emma Vahlbruch, sind, über meinen Nachlas frei verfügenkann. §2 Mein Bruder Karl in Valenzia befindet sich in guten Vermögensverhältnissen ..." Shorttranslation: There is a brother Karl who lives in Valentia/Venezuela and he lives in good conditions. I don't know where and when Karl VAHLBRUCH was born and died. I think he died in Venezuela but I don´t know. I´m looking for all VAHLBRUCH all over the world.
